I have a 2012 Acadia Denali that was experiencing the same issue rpm fluctuation under load. Thinking it was a gas/air mixture issue I tried swapping coils, spark plugs, cleaning gas tank, and cleaning the throttle body. It helped, but did not resolve the issue. This video shows how to remove the shifter knob in a 2017 GMC Acadia to fix the “shift to park” issue.I won't swear there is an actual solution. My '18 failed at around 18k miles. Per GM, dealer replaced a portion of the wiring harness. That fix only lasted about a month. Dealer then replaced the shifter assembly. That was about 8k miles ago. So far, so good. Some have reported repeat failures. Seems there is a micro switch that fails.
